Starting off the new year with a DNF at 85% and a 1 star review. I feel as though I might be too harsh on this book but in the 14 days I had this borrowed from my e-library, not once did I enjoy reading this book. I felt like I was blindfolded the entire novel. I could not imagine anything that was happening. I couldn’t keep track of the characters. It made cliches out of feminist characters and 19th century purity culture (tbf, we are working with select members of the past so I understand why their personalities felt kind of one note but it got tiresome). The romance was lacking. I felt like the Captain was very uncomfortable in their relationship and that made me uncomfortable reading about it. You have a man who comes from an era where men and women don’t even touch and make him LIVE with a woman who clearly wants to have sex with him. There was a slow burn build up to their relationship but it seemed like the MMC interest came out of no where. Don’t even get me started on the people from the future trying to come back in time and kill them??? LIKE WHAT IS WE DOING???

Twisty in a good way. I honestly thought I wasn’t going to end up liking it nearly as much until Ch 8 or 9ish. I didn’t gel with any of the characters like I usually do, but highly suspect that was purposeful on the author’s part. They were all very well-formed and written. Chicken bag was great. That is all.
