This book passed the time just fine. Other reviewers said the things that I'm not gonna say well. I never felt drawn to any of the characters in particular so when things actually started happening, I wasn't overly invested in what happened to any one character, which is unfortunate since there were important topics that were raised... but never really resolved? It was when the romance started that I started becoming apathetic. I didn't want that storyline to become the main theme of the book and that's exactly what happened. I guess it didn't really surprise me, but I wanted to not be right.
Appreciated the way the historical characters kept most of their historical mannerisms despite Ministry education/training. Definitely an interesting concept but was ready for it to end by the time it arrived.

Painfully boring. Really good concept, I wanted to like this book - it’s a shame it was executed better. Didn’t finish ..
