I'm not sure how this book won a Pulitzer, but who am I to judge. I'm not one of the people who give out Pulitzers. This book was painfully mediocre. There were some funny parts thrown in I guess. Some parts were pretty racist. You're not missing out if you decide not to read this book.

This was cute, charming, and witty but didn’t change my life. There were points that made me smile but ultimately I wasn’t invested in Arthur at all.

Andrew Sean Greer writes wittily and charmingly about Less' escapades past and present. Less is an extremely likeable protagonist and I found myself rooting for him. Some of the situations that Less experienced were so ridiculous that I frequently laughed out loud.

Going into writing this review, though, I wasn't sure what to say. This book is good; I enjoyed it. However, nothing about it particularly wowed me. I generally don't choose to read lighthearted romps like Less. If that suits you - you may just love it! Personally, I was underwhelmed.

At first I didn’t think I would like this book, and I couldn’t connect with Arthur Less. But somewhere around 1/4 to 1/3 of the way through, I got hooked. It didn’t matter that I have absolutely nothing in common with a 50 year old single gay man, the book just got better and better.

Be careful of reviews below, one of them spoils the ending and this website has no way to report it.
