Rasismus ve vší parádě. Nad některými scénami se mi navážno dělalo zle. Ke konci už to pak bylo zacyklené a dost se to opakovalo, i tak to byl hodně, hodně silný zážitek.

Incredible writing - urgent, horrific, breathtaking - each story held me by the neck and refused to loosen its grip. So difficult to read, but so glad I did.

Yeah my African American lit professor simply never misses.

3rd book this semester for the class and it’s another gut puncher. The aftermath of slavery is something that many people forget was just as much a dark time for black people and while there is much to be dissected from each of these stories I would simply suggest picking it up for yourself.

These are stories of pure and raw existence in the face of the dangers of racism.

Breathtaking. This collection of short stories is brutal and shocking; it hypnotizes the reader and doesn’t let them go. I am sitting here with my mouth open after finishing. This is one of the best pieces of literature that I have ever read.
