Marcellus was the ultimate star of this book, and I do wish he had gotten more time to shine, but I loved his journey. Michael Urie was the PERFECT narrator for this role. 😆 Tova was absolutely wonderful and quirky. Cameron was the annoying character who you couldn’t help but root for and hope for the character development. The book was a bit slow to start, but the backstory was necessary to understand how everything tied together.

I am not the most eloquent when describing what I like about the work of certain writers, but I really enjoyed every part of this book. It is written beautifully, and I fell in love with the characters and their lives very quickly. It is very hard not to root for them and towards the end I was turning the pages with anticipation with my fingers crossed that things would unfold how I wanted.

Ultimately, it's about grieving and learning to trust those around you, finding the small spots of joy in a life full of obstacles and disasters.
This book took me forever to read, largely because I work at a bookstore and I was trying to read on the job but our copies just kept selling out. I ended up checking out an audio book from the library to finally finish it. It came to me at a point in my life that I think is really poignant, but I found the plot to be more meandering for the first 2/3rds, and becoming more engaging toward the end. However, it never truly became a mystery - I fully expected there to be a murder plot at some point and it never happened, haha.
I liked it overall, and recommend it for people who like very heartfelt, earnest stories with hopeful outlooks!
