Especially revealing as to Obama as a husband, father, and half of a bromance.
Wow. Lovely. Will we ever have such an inspirational collection of photos about our chief executive again? Looking around at the moment, I'd have to say no.
Great photographs, great stories and a great man. Recommended.
Shows the very best of what a collection of historical photographs can accomplish. Highly recommended.
During the Obama presidency, most if not all of these photographs and more were on a Flickr account; it appears some of that is now on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/petesouza/?hl=en).
Still, it is more enjoyable to page through a nicely produced large coffee table book like this, with photographs printed on nice paper - it has real gravitas (in the literal sense, as people often say).
Alas I can't purchase books like this much but happily the public library has a copy I can borrow for a while.

It feels strange to put this book on here, as it really is just a bunch of photographs. I did actually read the text, though, which I don't usually do in photo books. The Obamas just look so...I don't know, happy? I loved these pictures.
4.5 Stars
“I have had the extraordinary privilege of being the man in the room for eight years, visually documenting President Obama for history. This book is the result of that effort; I gave it my all. I hope that the photographs that follow, accompanied by my words, will show you the true character of this man and the essence of his Presidency, as seen through my eyes and felt through my heart.”
Pete Souza takes us on on a little trip down memory lane. Several of these photos brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face. Pete gives background information on each of the photos. Turns out Obama has a wicked sense of humor.
