Well this made me cry like a little baby, damnit

What a refreshing take on friendship and love, passions and life.

Platonic and romantic soulmates exist, and I think this book is a wonderful picture of that.

I regret being too lazy to annotate this book when I started because there were so many important takeaways and quotes intertwined through this book. This story painted the hardships of friendships so well. The characters were complex and stubborn. You were rooting for them and annoyed with them at the same time. I really enjoyed the formatting of this book and found some of the video game sequences really creative in driving the story forward.

I enjoyed this book, I like the complexity of the characters and the various forms of attachment, friendship, love and partnership depicted. I’ve never read a book about video games before and found the descriptions of the game design very captivating. I read this very quickly for a bookclub discussion and liked exploring it with others after finishing. I think at times the author can be a little heavy handed with the allusions and some vocabulary choices took me out of the flow (kinda felt like words pulled from the thesaurus for the sake of it rather than adding value sometimes). Once I got over that and into the flow of the larger story I really enjoyed it.
