It took me a moment to get into this book. There was multiple pov in the book and I couldn’t get hooked into it until closer to the middle of the book. Anything in regard to war gets me emotional so that also sucked me into the storyline. The pov was mainly about the women of the family which I enjoyed. I don’t know much about 1969 but I like to think families were truly that open minded during that time or at least time. Overall enjoyed the book and would recommend as a good summer read.

YAWN. Cringeworthy writing, boring tropes, copy and paste from any other menopausal mom beach read and you'll get a similar story.

Fun novel about a family who vacations on Narragansett. The the novel follows the 4 women who are at different points in their lives through the history laden summer of 1969. The youngest character, Jessie, is 13 and falls in love for the first time. Kirby a 20 year old is trying to discover her way in a changing world. She is a rebellious Democrat. Blaire is a pregnant woman with a rocky relationship with her astrophysicist husband who works at NASA. The mother has a history and believes her past has made a karmic comeback by claiming her only son to be drafted into the Vietnam war. Kind of too sweet if a novel and idealic but a good read
