Three books in one, and in my case for a superior price. As a warning this book is extremely heavy, which makes it awkward to read at times. It is also out of date, but I believe Star Wars fans are used to that. The last work in this book is from 2006. Strangely enough the information ends after the dark nest trilogy, which is where I stopped when I was playing a bit of catch-up last year. The artwork for all three books is pretty.

Chronology: This section is really dry, and can be confusing. It might be a quick way to catch up for some, but there's not really much fun or useful information contained within it. If you're buying or reading these separately I suggest not getting this one. Just get the books in the period you're interested in.

Droids: Probably the most fun of these three books. The new droid classes are interesting, and the articles are short and interesting. The real downside here are the schematics. They are really sparse and sometimes the things they point out are quite obvious. Oh is that it's photoreceptor? I wouldn't have realized.

Alien Species: Okay I might be wrong, but I remember there being a creatures guide, if so I don't think there should be anything that isn't sentient, semi-sentient in here. Saying that It's definitions of sentient, semi-sentient, and non-sentient are a bit iffy. According to the definitions house cats would be semi-sentient and if you think about it, maybe they are. Of course this also goes for most if not all the animals listed as non-sentient in the book itself. Also going through the book, you realize just how many of the sentient species are bi-pedal and have hands. There are only 3 sentient species that are not bipedal. Only one of these does not also have hands. Now this isn't a flaw in the book, unless the artist is making things bipedal (the article doesn't always say that the species is bipedal.)Does it make sense that to become sentient fish, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and birds have to grow two legs and develop hands with opposable thumbs?
