4.25 maybe even 4.5 I loved this book so much! It was all the things I love about a hallmark movie but steamy and vulgar and just so so good. I had a smile on my face through this whole book I adored all of the characters and the setting was a perfect Christmas setting.

3 1/2 stars.

Fun ish, fast read, not "amazing". But, it was a good read, wanted to get it read before it was too far past Christmas, ha.

I will read the next in the series, which appeals to me a bit more than this one did.

I'm in a weird mood. Ignore.

Haven’t I seen this movie before? A few times? Leo, an NYC cab driver raising his sister in the Bronx, gives a ride to Princess Marie of Eldovia and ends up becoming her chauffeur for the duration of her stay in the city. The relationship gets off to a rocky start as they are quite literally from different worlds, but it’s not long before sparks fly and the princess extends an invitation to spend Christmas in Eldovia.

This book was so much more than I expected. It was a sweet, hilarious, and steamy romance! I loved how self aware this book was, with characters comparing their situation to a Hallmark Channel movie, until the channel suddenly changed to HBO. Leo was so endearing, and Marie was inspiringly passionate for her country.

The ending felt a bit rushed and confusing to me, but overall I adored this holiday romance and I highly recommend it come December!

Thank you to Avon and William Morrow Books for gifting me a review copy.

Hallmark but make it rated R ... or at least PG-13.

The best way to describe Princess for Christmas by Jenny Holiday was all the craziness of a Hallmark movie ... a princess from a small unknown country jumping in a random cab in NY, without any money, meeting then hiring Leo, the cab driver. The rest of the story unfolds just as you think it will, but with a little more steam than you usually get during a Hallmark movie.

“Happiness - whether you’re experiencing it or creating it for others - is important. And happiness and comfort, it turns out, are not the same thing.”

A Princess for Christmas was a great addition to my holiday book run. If you enjoy a romance I would definitely recommend adding this one to your list for next year.

“It was snowing gently, the fat, white flakes making the whole scene look like a movie set. It was the Hallmark movie he’d teased Marie about, except he was pretty sure Hallmark movies didn’t end in heartbreak and ruin. Of course, they also didn’t feature as much f*cking as had happened the past few days, so clearly he was on the wrong channel.”

Cab driver Leo, guardian of his younger sister, decides to make the rash decision to pick up a well-dressed woman outside the UN at his sister's urging because "She looks like a princess!" Turns out, she is, in fact, a princess! Leo becomes her driver during her trip to the U.S. but the two begin to form a friendship, with perhaps a current of attraction running beneath the surface. But a princess can't marry a cab driver... right?

I had a really hard time gathering my thoughts on this book. It's basically a Hallmark Christmas movie but with sex and swearing--so a Jenny Holiday version of a Hallmark movie, which is exactly what she set out to do! So the author accomplished her goal. It had the adorable cutesy holiday and royal scenes straight out of A Christmas Prince or The Princess Switch. And then BAM halfway through the book it gets steamy. I don't hate the juxtaposition of holiday wholesomeness and intimacy, I think I just could have used more integration of the two halves of the book--perhaps some more lustful language in the first half? This book was overall a HIGHLY enjoyable read, though--it has everything your could want: royal romance, holiday romance, New York classic scenes, castles, single (quasi) parent romance, steamy scenes. I really loved how self-aware the book was, with it's references to Hallmark movies and fake-sounding countries (I burst out laughing when Leo said "This Hallmark movie is about to get a lot more interesting."). It didn't hide what it was trying to be. I think the shift from pure Hallmark to classic Jenny Holiday was a bit sudden for me, though. I still recommend this as a great holiday romance!

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the free eARC in exchange for an honest review of this book!

A Princess for Christmas is an adorable read. Perfect for fans of Hallmark romance movies or a lighthearted happily ever after with a royal twist. Leo and Marie embark on a two weeks adventure in NYC and a fictitious monarch country in the Alps. This is a story of two worlds colliding between a taxi driver from the Bronx and a Princess from a small European country as they slowly fall for each other despite its consequences.

I don't usually watch Hallmark movies for my own good, but if it's anything like this one then sign me up. Jenny Holiday is a marvelous storyteller and writer and I felt as if I was plunged into a world of fairytale or make-believe Disney stories. Marie is such an astute character, has a big heart, and remarkably selfless. And it's even easier to love Leo as her hero, he's very in touch with his feelings and sensitive. I love reading about them as individuals.

Although this is a somewhat short read, the story dragged on a little bit in the second half. The book relies more on the narrative where I think it would be much enjoyable to see it from the character's point of view (though I suspect this was caused by the third person POV). Aside from that, this is a heartwarming holiday read and I would recommend it!
