Listened to this as an audiobook and it was difficult to track the differences between characters. Not very lovable people. Strange and eerie.

Hermosamente escrito. Repleto de alegorías. Cada personaje, cada action, cada decisión está vinculados y unidos. Una narrativa inventiva  e inteligente para tratar un tema del que ya se ha escrito hasta el cansancio pero esta historia le da un giro fresco.

I don't think I've ever read a book so immersive. Absolutely brilliant. I literally feel like I've been in a fever dream

fever dream indeed. Perfect, truly. absolutely my kind of book through and through. made me feel terrible, anxious, enthralled, offered few answers and just enough conclusion to firmly lodge itself in my brain for a while. what a brilliant feat of writing, so evocative and beautifully weird. thank you blanca for telling me to read this, i read seven empty houses and LOVED it and didn’t think to read any more from schweblin and i’m so glad i’ve been given this nudge. a triumph.

Who would have thought that a simple sentence like "That's not what's important right now" could be so chilling and propulsive?

I've rarely read a book so quickly. There was a palpable sense of dread, but also I needed to know what was going on.

This is ultimately a heart-breaking eco horror and I loved it.
