this is like one of those short stories you read in school that is extremely messed up and just haunts you forever, but in novel length, which is an extremely high compliment!!! i feel like i need to sort all the chapterless books i've been reading lately into "unputdownable" vs "a bit of a slog with no respite" and this is ABSOLUTELY the first camp! i also think this is best gone into knowing nothing about it, so i'm going to spoiler everything else. i loved the magical realism element of the transporting of souls and the idea that your child can become someone else and i looved the sense of ecological colapse and the way everything is poisoned and this book made me realize i'm actually soo interested in disasters that take over a town like that. i kind of just loved it all. HIGHLY recommend!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved the premise of this book, and the lengths a mother would go to in order to save her dying child. The book reads like its s dream, well more a nightmare, and is very compelling. It has traces of a thriller and of the supernatural.
I did find it very confusing at times, and was glad to read that others felt that way too. But then dreams often have this unstructured and disjointed element about it, so in this way it works for this book.

Un argumento bastante original y urgente: trata de la contaminación del campo y la separación brutal entre el mismo y la ciudad. Sin embargo, la ausencia de capítulos, el subdesarrollo de los personajes y la grave falta del desarrollo necesario de muchos aspectos de la trama (y por tanto de explicación al final) deja un sabor amargo en la boca. Hay varios asuntos que quedan sin resolver. Un libro que tenía la posibilidad de llegar a ser una gran obra literaria. No lo es.
