I enjoyed this book, the plot twist at the end really surprised me!  I don't think I've read a book before with the point-of-view of someone who is autistic (or at least heavily implied to be) - which is great representation for Neurodiverse folks. The depiction was well written, although I believe it fell into quite a few stereotypes - which took away from that slightly. Overall a good book :)

Molly, a neurodivergent maid, finds the rich and mean Mr. Black dead in his bed. It turns out he was murdered. And Molly ends up under suspicion for his murder. But some of the people at the hotel are not who they seem. And they may have used Molly's neurodivergence to their advantage.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I know some said it was inconsistent, but I find that, as a neurodivergent person, I can see how her seemingly very shifting rules don't shift as much as they seem to do to some people. I know that certain rules in my mind are different than how a "normal" person may have their rules. And once you get to the end it all makes sense, at least to me.
I didn't guess the killer, though I guess another one of the "plot twists" (the one with her grandmother.)

Narrator Rating: 3.5 stars
She did a decent job but for most of the book she had kind of pout to her voice which was childlike and annoying for a 20-something woman.

The story was definitely an  interesting concept, a maid that cleans your room knows a lot about you but cleans everything up after you so it’s a good crime scene. However, I found aspects of Molly’s personality to just be convenient for the plot. I saw other reviews before starting that described her as a neurotypical person’s view of how a neurodivergent person acts and that made me hesitant to read this but it was for a book club. I made it  through the book without a problem and it kept my interest. I did enjoy the story but I still felt like the book justified a lot of Molly’s behavior, especially near the end of the book. I understand the narrator doesn’t necessarily reflect the author but it felt off at times.

I requested this on Netgalley thinking it was for some reason a push on the book that is now a Netflix series which I was planning to watch after reading the book so I thought this was perfect.

This book has nothing to do with the Netflix series 🙈 it turned out to be so much up my alley and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Molly is a maid at the Regency Grand and I think a good way to describe her character is Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory. She was raised by her grandmother and is very trusting of everyone and takes them at their word.

Molly ends up being framed for murder and her friends help her figure out what’s gone on after she’s been arrested.

I flew through this book in a couple of sittings.

Have you made an error picking up a book with a similar title you thought was another before? Luckily for me, this was totally up my alley and a great mistake on my part.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and Penguin Random House Canada for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
