This was really disappointing. I enjoyed the nostalgia but it's very clear that Jacqueline Wilson is a children's book author. Everything is unnecessarily spelt out, overly drawn out and, sadly, quite dull. It leans heavily into gender stereotypes, which is disappointing. The plot is slow and I have no idea why she would date that arsehole for so long when she's so clear she doesn't like him. The story was predictable and the side characters were almost entirely neglected for the last quarter of the book. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

I think as a standalone book, it is wonderful. Jacqueline Wilson was, and is, the most important author in my life. It was sad in a way, because it wasn’t how i envisioned the girls lives to be as adults (perhaps nadine), however as a book, it was wonderful, and i am really glad that i got to see her vision of the trio’s future.
