Jacqueline Wilson is always an easy read for me, I love her style of writing. I wish she would make more books for her grown up audience:)

✨ Gifted ✨

As an avid Jacqueline Wilson reader (more than 2 decades ago now!), I had high expectations of this book. I had read one of the ‘Girls’ books just so I could remember their context.

However, this book was weird and (not all that) wonderful for me 😫
I REALLY got the heebiejeebies from Gary. The absolute ick. I shall be taking no further questions.

Although Ellie’s changes in attitude and energy was refreshing to see, elements from her past kept coming through in a way that was slightly upsetting. I also felt that the writing was not as impactful as when I first read the ‘Girls’ series.

I obviously love Ellie’s queer moment though, and Alice sounds like a great woman 🥰

2.5 out of 5 stars for me, thank you ✨
