My first impression was that these 40yos don’t seem 40, but maybe that’s the point? Feels like the lives of people in their early thirties but maybe that’s the point. We never stop growing up!

Read this very quickly as attached to the characters from reading JW as a child. Disappointed with how the plot panned out.

This book felt like a hug from an old friend you haven’t seen in over a decade or two. Warm, friendly and despite the time lag since you last saw them, everything is the different but the connection between the two of you is intact.

I remember some of the characters from previous works, but I loved how the author captured so many references for millennials, it made me laugh out loud many times and the overthinking that we often do and convince ourselves otherwise.

Not a novel plot at all, but more so a comfortable one.

I hope everyone (including me) can be more like Ellie eventually. Throw caution to the wind and create more opportunities for joy 💛

Writing this before reading any other reviews so I don't get swayed! This was... OK? Fine I guess? It was easy to read, though the plot was pretty basic/predictable and some aspects of it felt a bit out of touch* (the party at the start was unbelievable, too!). But I wasn't bored or annoyed at all. I wasn't expecting anything deep so I wasn't disappointed.

* spoiler but basically the whole Gary thing in particular was way more problematic on many levels than any of the characters were prepared to address
