DNF

I ended up DNF’ing this. I picked it up because I loved her books as a child. Sadly, it lacked any real substance.

How do I begin to describe how deeply disappointed I am by this book?

Like many other readers, I grew up devouring Jacqueline Wilson books. So when I heard there would be a sequel, I was so excited.

Think again is not only poorly written, it is completely devoid of any real plot or character development. There were so many characters and themes to explore from the original series that have been completely overlooked to make way for a whole book about Mr Windsor?? Where is the return of Dan? For a will they won't they reunited love story?! Surely this is what all the fans wanted?

It felt like JW was so focused on being inclusive and "modern" that it lacked authenticity and played on stereotypes. It also felt very much like a young adult fiction with some sex thrown to prove how grown up it's become.

I am so sad for Ellie, Magda and Nadine. They deserved so much better! 😔
