This was a really good sequel. While The Girl from the Well ends very well, I would really recommend reading this as well if you enjoyed the first book!

I loved having Tark as the POV character for this. I also really enjoyed the overall story and found many parts of it so fascinating. Like the first book, the cultural aspect to the horror was really interesting.

The ending was perfect and I even cried a bit at one point. A really good horror book overall!

Another delightfully creepy edition to this series, I found the sequel to THE GIRL FROM THE WELL to be more intense, more emotional, and a more engaging ghost story.

With Tark as the sole narrator, the plot was much easier to follow. While it did still take a bit to get to the meat of the plot, the initial chapters focused mainly on the interaction of Tark and Okiko.

Their bond is a complex, but sweet one. I really appreciated their relationship as Tark tried to connect with this ancient ghost girl.

The setting and atmosphere are as delightfully creepy as the previous books. While the story does have dark elements and disturbing themes, I found it compelling and heart-wrenching. As for the ending, it is just what I wanted and hoped for.

I’ve really enjoyed reading this duology. If you are a fan of creepy, sad ghost stories, definitely check this one out!

I absolutely love this series. Tho the end of this one leaves me guessing, will it continue? I have grown attached to Okiku. This is a great book series, especially if you love ancient Japanese lore. You most definitely should invest in these books. Not only are the books intriguing but they are very well written.
