By the gods, is this a beautiful edition of Go Rin no Sho. Wonderful editorial design and beautiful illustrations accompany the teachings of the master swordman. The translation by David K. Groff I believe is really good (not understanding the original lenguage but comparing with my spanish edition) and with useful translation notes. I bought this edition only for vanity, having read a three dollar edition before, but one must remember the words of the Dokkōdō: "cultivate no likings for particular things".

It was a very quick read for me.
Though I doubt anyone in this day and age would be capable of following "The Way" it was still cool to understand the mindset Shinmen Musashi had in the thought of strategy
**Dokkōdō was the star of it all for me. It was short and simple but was a really nice insight into how he preferred to live**

Maybe I just don't get it
Should you learn the art of the sword from a book? Probably not. With that in mind, Musashi Miyamoto's work is interesting, but doesn't hold as much conventional wisdom as Sun Tsu's "Art of War." I don't regret reading this, but I'm unlikely to revisit it.

Still amazes me simple things we take for granted now, hard work. Being able to prefect a craft is art to someone who respects what he is doing.

How do you review something like this?
It's a short book, but a slow read. Musashi doesn't lay it all out for you; you have to read and interpret, and so I found myself not wanting to read more than a paragraph at a time.
I can't really say I enjoyed the book - more that it made me think. A lot of what he says bears resonance. I didn't care for the introduction by the translator, which was just a compilation of legends about Musashi with interspersed sales pitches that this book will help you become a business god.
Yeah, that part was lame. But what Musashi has to say resonated for me with what I know of martial arts.
