This book is different from a lot of books I read. I assume some of this is because I read it in translation and am not as familiar with Spanish literature.

As a teacher I read this book with a fascinating read to consider child psychology. I also found a lot of the stress of reading to actually come from the format - the narrator is telling the story from the future. I spent a lot of time just trying to figure out what the ending was. (I did not succeed)

Começarmos por saber como a história acaba podia jogar contra o livro, mas é no que nos conduz a esse final que está o mais interessante. Andrés Barba tem em República Luminosa uma escrita bem coerente com a história: sem demasiados rodeios, seca e directa, dura, quando tem que ser. E tudo acaba por resultar muito bem, com uma narrativa que prende e acelera o leitor.
O ponto extra é alcançado com a revelação final, quando cria a cativante imagem que dá título ao livro. Barba conseguiu a minha atenção.
