The Langoliers - Heart pounding fun with an interesting sci-fi like plot.
Secret Window, Secret Garden - A little predictable but a fun story nonetheless.
The Library Policeman - A classic Stephen King scare, though he reaches past his propensity to be too graphic.
The Sun Dog - The first half felt a little wandering but the second half went by in one quick (scary) reading.

This was the wrong book at the wrong time, more than that it was terrible. I quite enjoyed "The Langoliers", but "Secret Window, Secret Garden" was boring and I've forgotten most of it although I finished it only yesterday. I got through about half of "the Library Police" and read the last two pages of that story. I'm not going to read the last of the four stories at this point. I might get back to it at some later point.
What is really awful is the fact that I've now lost taste for the long and eagerly awaited "Doctor Sleep". :S I remember now how I've been teetering on the edge of abandoning the King. How much I hated 11/22/63. Then again, "the Wind Through the Keyhole" was enjoyable and I of course loved "the Shining". It's twenty years since I read it though and at that day and age, I was much less critical than I am now.

My intro to King MANY years ago. Would give it a five except the Sun Dog kind of loses it for me. I've re-read it a few times and recommend to anyone looking for a good first King book.
One Past- The Langoliers. My favorite of this collection. It was exciting the entire way through.
Two Past- Secret Window, Secret Garden. This one was a cool concept ( I liked The Dark Half more though- kinda similar), but I found it slow and hard to finish. That might be because I had seen the movie before and had some idea about the plot.
Three Past- The Library Policeman. Creepy. Great narrator. I had an idea what was going on- but I was not prepared for THAT scene. Makes my skin crawl and stomach turn just thinking about it.
Four Past- The Sun Dog. Strange story. Good Ending. I was not expecting what happened to Pop because he is a long time character in Castle Rock.

I've always liked The Langoliers as a good if cheesy 90's miniseries, and it worked on the page as well. The Sun Dog was good, and Secret Window, Secret Garden was fine, but also reminded me of work Donald E. Westlake would perfect later on with The Hook. The Library Policeman started off fine, but good God is it fucked up.
The Langoliers: 4 stars
