Well, the third novella in this series of four gave me a nightmare. My wife woke me up as I apparently was making sounds of fear (crying? I’m almost forty...come on!). Maybe it’s because I go to the library a lot, take my kids to story time and know the librarians. All that made The Library Policeman terrifying for me.

The Langoliers was fun Sci-fi, and The Sun Dog was a good tale, though I wonder if people still know what a Polaroid is? I found Secret Window to be only okay, but perhaps because I’d seen the movie and thus knew the twist. It’s probably the best written story in here, but knowing what’s really going on actually took something away, in my opinion.

Overall, a solid series of stories.

False

I read this back when it first came out, so that means I read it in 1989. The stories are lasting and stick in your mind long after you close the back cover. Stephen King writes timeless tales that to which all people can relate. Often called the 'brand name' writer, yes, all his stories are relatable to the time in which he is writing, but this should never detract from the underlying issue with which he deals. I make no bones about it, Stephen King is my all time favorite writer.
