Well, there's a lot of repetition and fillers. It's also disgusting, a lot of infidelity.
She cheated on her husband, and when she got sick her husband Ben and best friend Claire were in a relationship (and they felt guilty about it all the time 🙄 but fortunately she's an amnesiac she wouldn't know) her best friend has a child and she doesn't care about marrying his father... also her son Adam has a girlfriend who is pregnant. Despite everything how can she forgive her best friend and husband? Obviously it happened because of how casually they regard intercourse. It's filthy and vile. The saddest thing of all is that this is her only circle, the only people who "care" about her. That can't be realistic. Oh I forgot, she was also thinking about her much younger doctor in an inappropriate way, although at some point it wasn't just thinking. The 18+ scenes were long and bothersome, sometimes it seems like the protagonist's mind revolves around lust. Now to the plot, it was predictable but I also wanted to know how everything played out in the end so good on the author for that, but it was stretched thin, it shouldn't have taken this many pages to tell the story. On a last note, how can everyone be so careless regarding their job? How can she be discharged from that care house without any official procedures that would eventually prove Mike isn't who he claims to be? And the POLICE!!! IT TOOK THEM A WEEK TO ACTUALLY GET ON THE CASE!! but they immediately were able to track Ben down and get him from italy??? Anyways, I guess the moral of the story is, don't cheat on your husband. Or else you might lose 20+ years of your life.

i really wanted to like this book more than i did, but it was such a chore to get through.
the writing is immaculate; watson’s ability to put emotions into words is truly incredible, but it just took a lot to push through the entirety.
from the very moment it was revealed she was attacked, not hit by a car, i knew immediately that’s who she was staying with, and that the man with the scar was her actual husband. granted - i dont always think it’s a bad thing to have a well crafted story with good hints, it just felt very obvious.

it was extremely difficult to get past the constant descriptions of her waking up confused - could’ve been spared more times.
overall, if you’re interested in a slower burn and wanting to have a lighter read, this book would be perfect; i however won’t be recommending this to anyone
