Well, there's a lot of repetition and fillers. It's also disgusting, a lot of infidelity.
She cheated on her husband, and when she got sick her husband Ben and best friend Claire were in a relationship (and they felt guilty about it all the time 🙄 but fortunately she's an amnesiac she wouldn't know) her best friend has a child and she doesn't care about marrying his father... also her son Adam has a girlfriend who is pregnant. Despite everything how can she forgive her best friend and husband? Obviously it happened because of how casually they regard intercourse. It's filthy and vile. The saddest thing of all is that this is her only circle, the only people who "care" about her. That can't be realistic. Oh I forgot, she was also thinking about her much younger doctor in an inappropriate way, although at some point it wasn't just thinking. The 18+ scenes were long and bothersome, sometimes it seems like the protagonist's mind revolves around lust. Now to the plot, it was predictable but I also wanted to know how everything played out in the end so good on the author for that, but it was stretched thin, it shouldn't have taken this many pages to tell the story. On a last note, how can everyone be so careless regarding their job? How can she be discharged from that care house without any official procedures that would eventually prove Mike isn't who he claims to be? And the POLICE!!! IT TOOK THEM A WEEK TO ACTUALLY GET ON THE CASE!! but they immediately were able to track Ben down and get him from italy??? Anyways, I guess the moral of the story is, don't cheat on your husband. Or else you might lose 20+ years of your life.

Very slow. It feels like the entire middle of the book could have been taken out and it would have been much better. I usually still don’t mind predictable books but there was just no payoff for me :/

  • Sort of a diary format, but not really? Makes you empathise with the protagonist, since the reader is in the same position as her
  • Very interesting concept for sure! And pretty well done from a layman's perspective
  • Mostly slow burn except for the last ~30 pages, maybe a smoother transition would have been cool
  • Didn't even CONSIDER the ending until pretty late

The book had a great premise.
Unfortunately, it was very repetitive, as the main character has to recall her memories every day again and again. I understand that this is exactly what the book is about, but for me personally, it could have been a bit more fast-paced.
Also, I had wished for the thriller aspect earlier on in the story - it wasn't until about 70 pages before the end that the book felt like a thriller to me.
Furthermore, I figured out the plot twist quite early on, which did not necessarily mean that the book was bad, but unfortunately the story somehow lacked that certain something.

-----
