Paula Rabinowitz archives the long ignored voices of women in revolutionary Leftist writing during the American Depression era with grace and thoroughness. Demonstrating how these women string threads together across time and difference - a chorus of individuals each positioned differently to the State, the home, their bodies... This did feel a bit dated, having been published in 1991, and I do wish Rabinowitz would have tended more to how race and racial capitalism affects whose voices are preserved and heard, whose bodies are policed and whose protected... This feels like such a pressing issue when it comes to labour (both productive and reproductive) especially.
