I picked this up because I so enjoyed reading Memories in the Drift. What is interesting to me is that this book felt so very different...I almost can't grasp that the same author wrote both books. This is not to say this book wasn't well written or that it didn't have an interesting premise... But the idea wasn't as unique and for me, the characters weren't as captivating. Overall, it was a solid, 'feel-good' (ultimately) read that took on some really heavy issues. I think my biggest complaint was the idea that one night could instantly transform some of these characters that had serious, serious issues. I like happily ever after but this one didn't sit right for me.

I'm between a 3 and a 3.5 on this one. While I found some of the characters enjoyable, the language lovely, and the premise interesting, somehow I found the story slow moving and not fully absorbing. Maybe the heat here didn't let me get into all that snow.

Look, it's not a perfect book and it's maybe closer to 4.5 stars, but it made me cry at least 4 times, and was truly a lovely, compelling set of stories. I binged it in 3 sittings, and thought about it when I couldn't be reading it. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and while it's certainly challenging I'll be recommending it to friends
I really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately the first half of the book was extremely boring and I debated quitting multiple times. Storyline picked up midway through the book.
