Decent plot but the telling does not hold up in 2020. The use of pejoratives, about many different types of people, was constant. As I was born after this was written, I'm not sure they were slurs then but it took me out of the story quite often.

If you can get past that, my only other complaint was that I lost track of all the players. They were mainly referenced by last name and I was listening via audiobook so that could've been on me.

I'm on the fence but I will give the second book a try.

Loved this book.
Psychologist Alex Delaware uncovers a paedophilic ring while investigations the murder of a little girl.
Engaging from start to finish.
I recommend

Disappointed in this one. It had some interesting characters and started off well but it really dragged on at the end. I did not care for the details of the physical fights, nor the slang language referring to the child abuse.
