Absolutely one of my favorite books! It is a must read!
Loved it! both the art and the story were great. "Seconds" have a unique and refreshing style, with an compelling story relatable to anybody who ever struggled with adulthood.
However, something in the final resolve of the story seem a bit lacking to me - the conflict ended to quickly. I wish it was a bit longer, so I could see more of Katie trying to fix what she started, as well as the way it affected her relationship with Max.

So I'm a big Scott Pilgrim fan, and this was on my list to read from about the moment I heard about it. The story itself was different than I expected, a sort of time travel/monkey's paw-style story that I generally enjoy.
So why didn't I care much for this?
I can't really place it. The story was okay, but didn't break new ground. The artwork was great, exactly what we'd expect from O'Malley. I think, honestly, that it was just not really connecting with me at all. I just wish I could pinpoint exactly what was missing from the whole thing.

I'll read anything Bryan Lee O'Malley ever does forever. Everything he writes is as self-aware as it is fun as it is emotional as it is light as it is tender. It's a delight to read his work. In this, second chances play a huge role alongside time-altering, as chef Katie aims to move on with her life, only to stumble upon the opportunity to "fix" things, which will always be a selfish hopeful's undoing. From start to finish, it's wonderful.
Katie's a chef about to open a new restaurant, trying to get away from the old one that gave her fame. But after she makes a personal mistake leading to a kitchen accident, she finds a way for revert things and fix what she did wrong. She easily gets trapped in a vicious circle of constantly fixing things until everything has changed out of control.
I like Bryan Lee O'Malley's humor, style and characters. I must say sometimes I felt Katie's character looked like a teenager when she's supposed to be in her late 20s and her design was way too manga compared to the rest of the characters, something that didn't happen with Ramona and Scott in Scott Pilgrim but that's just me. Also, there wasn't a whole lot of cooking from her which made it hard to believe she was really a chef. To be honest my favorite were Hazel and Lis both in design and as characters. I hated Max. It's a good thing Bryan always has enough interesting characters to find someone you'll identify with. The colors are beautiful, and some pages specially were very nice to look at.

I loved this.
A while ago, I read Scott Pilgrim by the same author and devoured that story, and Seconds was just as good! Katie was a great character and the story was unique in its own way and special. I was surprised with her ultimate love choice but I'm not unhappy with it, just surprised from the past errors with the mushrooms. I just really really enjoyed this. I hope O'Malley makes some more good stories soon.
