Surprised to find myself repeatedly comparing this to Starve Acre.
There's so much to love here; even beyond the art, the character building, pace, and developing mystery are all marvelous.
Then they kinda aren't. As the world descends into disorientating chaos in the back half, so too does the book descend into unengaging narration and finicky dream logic. Everything wraps up before you really feel that Katie has had a chance to make any coherent decisions; after a certain point, it's all just inertia.
Still, it's such a breezy read that I'd easily recommend. Finished in only a few hours!

Fun art style and pretty useful message. Didn't love Katie, but I think that was the point. Really enjoyed the house spirits and the character who takes care of them (her name is slipping my mind). A good read overall.
I read this in a binge. The pacing of the story felt perfect, and you really felt her anxiety throughout the story. It's almost a mirror the parts of ourselves that always want to do something right, but make the strangest, most inexplicable decisions on what is the crux of the problem (and are often wrong about it).
