4 zvezde

I tried to persevere. I saw some cool points in the first book that I was holding onto hope for. I know that this was meant to be a morally grey character arc, but it fell flat. It ended up just being 'universe say murder bad, but only when the main character does it' and it continued down that road. There were so many different ways this could have been taken in a much more comprehensive way, but it genuinely just kept getting worse.

Woah. Just, woah. This book was on a whole other level . Whereas 'The Young Elites' was slightly tame with an occasional dark thought floating about, 'The Rose Society' explores a totally different side of Adelina -- the psycho, power-hungry side -- and at the same time still allows the reader to sympathize with her. I mean, her actions were so clearly wrong but it just doesn't seem that way when you're reading.
Everything was just perfect -- the narrative, the new characters, the complex & layered plot... Marie Lu's writing has definitely hit its stride!

After reading the poppy war, i was convinced i wouldnt gine another fmc as unhinged as Rin, i was wrong. This is unrelated but, I LOVE this book, but I LOVE Magiano MORE, LOVE HIM WITH MY WHOLE HEART.

I have no words.....I've been rendered speechless. From page 1 to the final page there was consistent action and drama, as dark and twisted it may have been. I honestly cannot wait for The Midnight Star because shit is about to go down!
