Dex literally LOVES but HATES kee... his heart has been broken too many times by her. I am normally a girls girls, but sometimes I was team DEX. I understood why he was so dismissive and "mean" at times, because he was protecting himself. Dex wanted Kee to open up so many times, literally telling her in all types of ways she could understand that HE WANTED HONESTY AND NOTHING SHE COULD SAY COULD KEEP HIM AWAY... yet she continued to not be her true self and be honest.. slightly annoying. Dex and his brothers were the ones who carried this book.

When she tells her fake fiance "I bet my whole Black Diamond salary that me standing here has affected you."
Seconds later she gets a notification that he's deposited a million dollars in her account

I had back to back exams last week and all I wanted was a 'no thoughts, wattpad-esque' book to get out of my life slump. So you can see, I was going in with no expectations. This book still managed to disappoint me. It felt like the author was listening to 'all-american b*****' while writing this book with amount the times she described the fmc as an 'all American girl'. Like girl- come on. If I had to summarize the fmc in one sentence, I would use her own words because I couldn't say it any better than she did:
"I’m a doormat."
At least she's self aware I guess?
(Spoilers ahead)
I don't get the timeline. I don't get the point of time skips. I don't get where the girl in the front seat that the fmc set up with the mmc went through out the book. At one point it was just trope after trope thrown together.
Terrible dad and sick mom? check.
Controlling mmc who ends his call with the president for her (what even)? check.
Stalker who kidnaps her? check.
Also why would you get the fmc kidnapped in the last 10 pages of the book only for the mmc and his squad to find her in 1 page. <Insert WHAT WAS THE REASON sound>
Anyways I finished it so I guess there's that. Good on Kee for exchanging a controlling, obsessive label for a controlling, obsessive man. Here's to being free!
