Enjoyed this. Brilliant descriptive writing. You could almost smell the grime of 1850 London

I was given a copy of this by Net Galley. It's a tense, page turner of a story with a beautifully macabre twist. Set in the world of the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood, it talks about art and obsession and observation and love. It kind of reminded me of a cross between The Crimson Petal and The White and The Collector.

3.5. A fun (ha, weird word choice because it's pretty dark) look at Victorian London. Gothic historical fiction. It has been compared to [b:You|36430011|You (You, #1)|Caroline Kepnes|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1549463282l/36430011._SY75_.jpg|39913517], which I've read several times. While there are some similarities, it doesn't seem "copied" or anything like that. A man becoming obsessed with a woman delusionally and abducting her? Yeah. Not a unique occurrence.

Iris dreams of being an artist, expressing herself on canvas, rather than spending long hours of monotony painting dolls faces. Louis wants her to pose for him and teaches her how to paint. Silas is creepy AF. Albie, the poor little boy who just wants false teeth. It's a good read: worth it. The ending is also well done.
