great book. i was expecting a little more clarity in its conclusion, but i'm kind of glad that i didn't get it? a very unique exploration of the effects of punitive justice, systemic neglect and control, and a whole bunch of specific social issues (racism, sexism, transphobia, and ableism). pretty intense at a lot of times, but also a pretty quick read. grabbed me immediately and put me through an absolute washing machine of emotions and thoughts. well worth the disorientation you're bound to feel.
