Seriously, I have been sleeping on this author because man, this book had me literally on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I couldn't for the life of me, put this book down once I turn the first page. I was caught - hook, line, sinker. The story line will get you hook instantly and don't let me start on the characters. Gawd, Kallum Locke is just your perfect unhinged, anti-hero while Halen is the cool, practical heroine. The story writing, world building and character development are just absolutely perfect.
Just when you think you had everything figured out in this story, the author will throw you a curveball that you didn't see coming. There's no possible way that I will forget this amazingly twisted, dark romance for days after reading it. What more can I say? I fucking loved it and highly recommends for fans of this genre.

I don't know how I feel about this book. It's as if it's trying to go somewhere yet doesn't know how to get there, so decides we as readers need to know WAY TOO much about philosophers...
I think my IQ is lower now that I’ve read this.
Just imagine someone taking a philosophy 101 class, muddling through “The Secret History” cliffs notes, watching “The Texas Killing Fields” and then decided to bang out a book about it ( of course throw in some graphic sex ) in a few days and you will have this book.

I feel as though I wasn’t smart enough for this book or just these characters.
I love the premise and the overall plot. Having the suspected murderer of your case, that you put behind bars, as your colleague. Depending upon him for guidance through the investigation. The tension, the hating each other. All that was lovely.
Unfortunately, the whole psychiatry philosophical aspect kind of took me out of the story. Some of the dialogue just made no sense since it was so deep into questioning everything. Also the whole otherworldly, I couldn’t make sense of anything, and I don’t know if that was the point or just the involuntary result of the writing.
And the ending twist felt odd. I’m never a fan of those types of twists.
I guess this book’s plot and odd elements can just be put under the « the characters are just not right in the head so it’s all justified and makes total sense » umbrella.
I’ll probably give the second book a shot but unsure if I’ll finish the series.
