I just didn't click with this one, and it had to go back to the library. I'd give it another shot, I guess.

Whilst I had to read this book for class, I think it’s one of the most wonderful non-fiction books I’ve ever read. It reads so wonderfully and fluid and you find yourself entirely captivated in a world you never thought you would be.

There is a few key stand out points to me, but the passage about our obsession with “Old England” really spoke to me - our obsession with the past which never actually existed. It’s interesting.

This book deals with grief in such a wonderful way and I’m so glad they wrote this book.

I liked the way she alternated her story with that of Mr. White of the 1930's and how he trained his goshawk. Sometime it was painful to read because she was obviously having serious psychological issues.

This book is beautifully and masterfully written. It reads like fiction, and I had to remind myself continually that it was not. It is an exceptional study of life, death, and grief. The interweaving of White's story was interesting, poignant, and relevant, if not wholly parallel to MacDonald's experience. They say you are guided to the things you need to read or experience, and this was a perfect read to complement current events in my own life. I absolutely loved her voracious use of more challenging vocabulary words. It is a pleasure to read a book that challenges you to come up to its level.
