I seem to working my way through Katee's backlist and this was a delightful, short, spicy first entry in her series of novellas, Deal with a Demon. I was shocked that a couple were at my public library and snatched them off the shelf in a hurry. We follow Bri, who has had a rough life and marriage, as she agrees to marry a dragon in an alternate realm and stay there for seven years. No more to share without spoilers, but Sol (our dragon hero) is the best kind of cinnamon roll with a little edge I've read in a long time.

A super quick fun read that served as an excellent palate cleanser between heavier books.
My first monster romance did not disappoint! I loved these characters together and thought their dynamic was cute. Idk why a dragon in pants is so endearing or the fact that Sol swims like a crocodile is so delightful but Katee Robert makes it work 😂 The book definitely could have benefited from being longer in order to flesh out some stronger lore and world-building, or develop our side characters a bit more.
Overall, nothing revolutionary, but I got what I signed up for and had a good time!

Okay, look, it's a monster f***er wrapped in a cute and sweet quick story! But I think the couple is charming and really cute together and sometimes you just need that.
It's a HEA and just overall a feel good kind of story. Yes, it's not long, yes it's not any sort of mind-blowing story in terms of world building or complex storytelling but that's okay for me! It's like a perfect palate cleanser in between more complex stories.
Definitely something I would reread for those moments I need a bit of smutty heartfelt goodness, haha.

I mean, hard to rate a book about a human having sex with a dragon 😅. But I do like the point that men can be way worse. I was thoroughly entertained by the smutty romance. There’s no plot, there’s no deeper meaning here. Just a woman really enjoying having sex with a dragon man. Met all my expectations
