Didn’t enjoy this as I hoped I would. The “thriller” part was missing & every single character was so awful that they all blended into each other to the point that I didn’t care whose pov I was reading, I just knew I didn’t like them.
The ending (which I’m assuming was supposed to be an omg moment) wasn’t, mostly because I was excited to finish the book & start something completely different.

I'm so glad I'm done with this book.
Halfway through I thought I was going to give up--I've had enough of the whiny, desperate, selfish, unaware, and undeniably idiotic characters. But it's not just that everyone in this book was despicable--you can master a novel with an anti-hero as a main character--it was the fact that it utterly failed as a thriller.
When I read the description, I figured that the thing that the girl saw on the train was a murder...the story that followed was her way of dealing with it and trying to prove it happened. Despite this early assumption, and unlike the main character, I didn't rely solely on my own ideas (and fantastical delusions) to come to my conclusions. The mystery fell flat--you couldn't feel anything but contempt for those involved so it didn't matter what happened to them--and the other characters' involvement didn't make any sense. Do British women just make it a habit of inserting them into the lives and matters of strangers?
It would have been better if the unreliable character actually managed to piece things together by working through it--like Memento--but the fact that eventually she just goes to bed and miraculously remembers key details (!) was just lazy.
TL/DR: Terrible characters, lacks intrigue/suspense, clunky story with lazy wrap up. Read at your own risk.

Believe the hype.
I read this in a few sittings. It was insanely addicting and mysterious. Reminds me a bit of Gillian Flynn who writes flawed, unlikable and bitter females. I love the connections between the characters and even though I guessed the twist, I was never really sure and wanted to keep reading.
And it's becoming a movie!
Starring two of my favorites: Rebecca Ferguson (a Swedish actress who outshone everyone in the last Mission Impossible movie) and Emily Blunt (I have such a celebrity crush on her after The day after tomorrow. SQUEAL.)
Recommended for those who like mysteries and thrillers with a good dose of drama.
