I am Amanda Hocking trash tbh. I have read everything she's written and mostly loved it all. And [b:Ice Kissed|18132923|Ice Kissed (Kanin Chronicles, #2)|Amanda Hocking|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1414606766s/18132923.jpg|25470729] is no exception. As a companion series to the Trylle, the Kanin Chronicles is awesome. I liked that this series really kicks it up a notch and expands the troll world for us. I still stand by the idea that you should read Trylle first or else you WILL be spoiled for that series if you go and read it later. Plus they aren't that long. I could probably binge all six troll books in a day. (I am definitely going to do that)
I still really loved Bryn. I liked that she was finally starting to realize just how much of her life she was giving up by being so dedicated to her job. There was too much overlap for her to truly be happy and have everything that she wanted and I liked that she finally figured that out. I think she is a great main character and role model because she puts so much of herself into everything she does. With Bryn, you get 100%.
I also still really like Ridley and I liked that their relationship was taken to the next level but I 100% needed more. Bryn and Ridley only had a couple scenes together (AND I WAS DENIED MY DANCING SCENE. WTF IS THAT SHIT) so I felt starved for their attention. But I definitely reread certain scenes over and over again. But I still needed more. I liked that they felt like a real couple and that both of them were still trying to be like "ugh this isn't a good idea even though I want this so bad" because it felt super natural.
I definitely liked that there was some more world-building this time and that we got to see a lot of different troll tribes and their cultures rather than just one. I think this vastly expands on what we already know and gave us something new to ponder while reading. I would have liked just a bit more about how these cultures play into the grand scheme of things because I feel like everything was very isolated but that wasn't the case in the Trylle where the tribes were overlapping a lot more.
Like I said in my review of [b:Frostfire|18105451|Frostfire (Kanin Chronicles, #1)|Amanda Hocking|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408844832s/18105451.jpg|25425024], Hocking is great at having there be a bigger issue than what we see at hand. And there is so much more happening in this one than what we the reader knows -- or even what all the characters can put together. I liked that we see more of the plotting behind the story and more of who is involved, but also that everyone is a suspect. Bryn talks to someone and they are shady and clearly hiding something and it makes you wonder who is doing what. I loved it!
I thought this ending was better done than the ending in [b:Frostfire|18105451|Frostfire (Kanin Chronicles, #1)|Amanda Hocking|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408844832s/18105451.jpg|25425024] and I was like STARTLED at my book. First of all, am I missing something? I don’t really get how this book title is relevant to the story. It might be me being clueless, but please explain.
Also, I think this is the first time that I’m scared the people I want to see end up together romantically won’t actually do so. I find this story to be quite unpredictable in that aspect, and I’m not sure I’m happy with that. I will most likely read the last book soon but I do not want Bryn to suddenly fall for Konstantin. Please do not let that happen, it makes no sense. Authors should step away from that trope, although if it’s written really well it can turn out okay. But please, not here.

Ice Kissed spent a lot of time digging around for information. was not as good as the first book. It was still good but not that good. There was a long period in the middle where the story got very repetitive and boring. Bryn and Kasper just spent a long time looking for information so there wasn't a lot of action. This book got very political during that part so if you enjoy politics you'll like this. I am not a huge fan of politics so I was really bored. The ending definitely makes up for the boring parts, though! It was so action packed it got my heart racing.
I really liked this continuation. It was just really boring for a long time. Also, I wasn't a huge fan of the Ridley-Bryn romance for a long time which is super disappointing! I just got tired of all the 'heated looks' they exchanged. Thank God the beginning and end were better for them. So, basically, the middle is the weakest part (in my opinion) of the story. I still really recommend this series!

Shit.
This was crazy, especially the last eighty pages or so. I can't figure out what's really going on and it makes me really want to by the next book asap.
The Queen is a bitch, though, and I highly suspect she's a part of this whole thing. And I can't help but suspect that Konstantin isn't the bad guy he's been painted as.
This was pretty good, though! I'm excited to see how everything wraps up in the last one.

Rating: 4 stars
A great continuation to the series! I enjoyed the way the mystery continued, though we didn't get too many answers. Hopefully the final (and longest) book of the series will wrap everything up nicely.
Bryn's friendship with Kasper and her growing responsibility was wonderful to see. The eventual villain was someone I'd suspected from the beginning, but the reveal was still exciting. I was disappointed with the finale of the first book, so I was pleased to see that the final chapters of this one were planned out much better.
I was actually surprised by the maturity of this book. There was a sex scene that was unexpected and which wasn't warned about. As a younger reader I wouldn't expect this series to contain something like that, so I hope no one stumbled across the scene and was scarred for life...
Overall I enjoyed the higher maturity level of this book, and I could tell that the author had also gotten better. I'm still not obsessed with the mystery aspect, and if my questions aren't answered in the final book I'll be very disappointed.
P.S. GORGEOUS cover!
