I finished this book three weeks ago and I’m still chewing on some of the passages. Beautiful, revolting, memorable. In disbelief that I haven’t read more of Morrison’s works as this may be the best book I’ve read in 2025 so far.

I know this book is fiction but I’m also not naive enough to think it hasn’t happened in real life. Hard to get through because some of the sections were confusing and slow. Didn’t hook my attention so I was just trudging through.

I would love to read this book when I am little more mentally stable/less sensitive but child sexual abuse are extremely difficult for me to read. I started this for a book club and I was upset by the themes. I know Toni Morrison is a phenomenal author - just difficult for me to get through.
