I enjoyed the book despite the too-good-to-be-true ending. The characters were top-notch, and the story kept you wanting to know what was going to happen. I just thought it was going to be different and that's on me.

I found the premise of this book interesting, however unfortunately the story did not live up to the promise. I feel that I did not connect to any of the characters and found the plot oddly paced. It did not draw me in at any point making me keen to know what might happen next. Also the lack of chapters is an ... interesting.. choice.
This book started out very well then the writer lapsed into a boring tale and the story ended flat. Almost as if one person wrote the first half and some newbie, inexperienced writer wrote the second half. There is a lack of character development for most characters and lack of scene setting. The book read like a documentary with “he said”, “I said”, “she said” after nearly every sentence in the second half, I said. The seaside was beautiful, he said. I’m bored, she said. Need I say more?

Fine- realllllllly dragged in the middle and through the end. It seems like a character study but there are a lot of unnecessary details and it seemed that the main character and narrator were two separate people in the first 40%, then the last part was all about the narrator- who wasn’t nearly as interesting
