My Oma used to teach me to read with this book and it’s exactly as I remember it being. Good for young children to read.

This must be one of the best early readers around, at least if your kid is scientifically oriented. My son is totally fascinated by this book, it's such an amazing story. The pictures are really helpful for understanding what happened.

Brief and simple look at the natural volcanic disaster that wiped out Pompeii all those years ago, and seems to have spawned books and movies of all types, usually with masculine characters and drippy leading ladies, but this one is just telling the tale and does not come with the same sense of melodrama.

Lots of good information about Pompeii and Vesuvius here. Low stars for the quality of the writing, though it is an "early reader" book, not literature. Emma was fascinated, and the interest came as a result of the Magic treehouse book about Pompeii.
