Review as I read because this is a controversial book, with most people either hating it or loving it:
At 36 percent, I've enjoyed the story so far, but I'm not really thrilled about the FMC placing all the blame on the MMC for what happened at the party. What happened was 100 percent her fault, so I'm not sure why it is the catalyst that makes her realize she needs to get over her crush. Despite this, the FMC DID need to stop with her schoolgirl, immature crush before any relationship could progress between the two characters, so I'm glad the FMC is determined to stay away from the MMC at this point. He needs to know what it's like to NOT have her so flustered around him all the time.
At 46 percent, given a lot of the reviews I read, I wasn't expecting to see the FMC give the MMC such a hard time. The reviews had me believing she rolled over and was a doormat this entire book, acting like a lovesick puppy the whole time. That hasn't been the case. She's been telling the MMC to leave her alone for a bit now. For something that wasn't his fault. But it needed to be done anyway, so oh well. He's guilty of so many other things that it is difficult to feel bad for him for the one time he WASN'T at fault, which usually isn't the case but the MMC is so unhinged, that in this one case, it doesn't feel like an injustice is being done to him.
At 62 percent, this book is shaping up to be pretty much what I thought it would be. The MMC is unhinged, more so than his dad, as has been established in the books prior to this one in this series. I'm not sure why anyone would be upset at his behavior thus far because it is within his established characterization. He's an uncontrolled psychopath with a thirst for murder and carnage. Precious little causes him to pause before he acts and he doesn't have empathy. This book is his journey to romantic love. Who would think it would be sunshine and rainbows? That would not be true to his character. I like how his feelings for the FMC are confusing and undefined for him at this point. He has no idea what to make of how he feels toward her and only knows action. He's not the wait and ponder it out type. He would rather act on instinct, even if he doesn't know what is behind his motivation, than sit, ponder and define what he is feeling.
End: Wow. Some of the negative reviews REALLY misrepresented what happens in the last third of this book. I was shocked by what actually happened because I was under the impression things were going to go down a different way. With that being said, I give this book 4.25 stars. I enjoyed it immensely. I enjoy unhinged MMCs with a soft spot for those he loves and I don't know a better description for this book than that.

I continue to read Cora Reilly's books because I've been reading them since the beginning and have become invested in this universe and its characters. Her works have downright bad in the past few years but my hopes were revived with Amo and Greta's book, which I praised. But this addition to her series has deeply disappointed me. The writing and editing are not at the standard it should be. The style was a ton of "telling" instead of showing urghhhhh. I disliked Nevio to the core and he never redeemed himself in the slightest. The things he did throughout the entire book showed he was spoilt, irresponsible, and has no respect for his friends and family who do so much for him. I found Aurora completely naive, boring and another "I'm not like others because I wear overalls" pick-me girl. All the dialogue and descriptions felt unnatural and forced. Plus, the tattoos seem dumb to me. It truly felt like nothing substantial happened besides Nevio continuously killing people, including innocents, and Aurora not caring one bit. Overall, this uninspired story with no true character connections was not worth the read and quite cringe.

Review: By Frenzy I Ruin was well worth the wait! Cora blew my mind with this fifth book in the Sins of the Fathers series and I was so stoked to finally get Nevioβs story! This book was not for the faint of heart and Cora truly captured everything that Nevio was and was not in this book as she delved into the inner workings of his mind and his monster. I could not put this book down at any point from beginning to end and the parallels his and Roryβs romance had to their parents was astounding and so sly that it took me a minute to notice.
Auroraβs character shocked me some in this book from what we saw of her in Gretaβs story. I enjoyed how the beginning was time lapsed and we saw how her infatuation grew and shaped until we got to the present as well as how she matured over time and forged her own path. The tomboy aesthetic she has in this book as well as the nerdy girl persona she pursues was different than most mafia romances and Cora did a great job with showing how the Camorra had modernized in ways the other mafia families had not. I also LOVED seeing her breach the boundaries between the Camorra and the Familigia. Seeing her relationship with Aria and Isa were the icing on the cake for this book.
Cora shocked me with the way she dove into Nevioβs character. I LOVED LOVED LOVED how his character was not so cold that he had no emotions but was actually pretty cognisant of them and just refused to acknowledge them. I also found the destructive tendencies he had to be the true parallel to Remoβs sin from the original series. The way Nevio embodied the Falcone curse and struggled with his inner demons, especially after Greta left, was devastating and infuriating to me but also captivating since his POV showed hidden depths within him.ββ The moral dilemma he struggles with in regards to Rory was also something Cora was able to do to perfection and was the one wholly redeeming factor he had as a character.
Nevio and Aurora had a truly shocking romance that had many ups and downs but led to the best HEA by the end. I adored Aurora for all her innocence and naivety at the beginning but also for the resilience she had as she grew in the story. The balance she gave Nevio was also something I adored her for since she never wavered in her belief of him even when his biggest fear was destroying her. These two had the biggest amount of innuendo and angst between them so far in this series and they also had the biggest amount of heartbreak.
While I liked seeing Fabiano and Leonaβs POVs, getting Remoβs was what I wanted. I loved getting to see how he saw himself in Nevio and how their relationship grew in this book from banked anger to a grudging respect. The acceptance and approval he had for Rory was also a huge point for him and I loved how him and Fina never pushed Rory for more than she could handle but also how they made sure to hold Nevio accountable for his actions. While I am sad to see the end of one of the unholy trinity, I am excited to continue onto the next book in this series and hope to see more of these two!
Rating: 100+, Cora has done it again with Nevioβs book and I cannot praise her enough for the deviant and dark romance Aurora and Nevio had in this thrilling installment within SotF!

Review: YASSS CORA!! By Frenzy I Ruin WAS EVERYTHING!! This book was done with a full cast and they all knocked it out of the park. Nevioβs and Auroraβs story has been tied for my favorite in the Sins of the Fathers series but this audiobook skyrocketed it to the top! The whole selection of narrators brought this book to life in ways I was NOT ready for and I found myself wanting to immediately want to re-listen to the book after finishing it.
Lucy Rivers, Jacob Morgan and Angelina Rocca were my absolute favorite and the way these three were able to fully enrapture the roles they narrated added tension and a TON of emotion to the audio. Cora was able to grab a handful of very talented narrators who knew how to make Nevio stand out like the dark menace he was but also bring out the softer side only Aurora could see. I also adored the way Aurora was narrated and found that her character shined a lot more while listening to it than it did when I read the book alone. The way her growth was evolved in the audio showed how she was maturing over the progression of her story and it was PHENOMENAL!
This audiobook is a 100% recommended one from me if you enjoy mafia romance or gritty and dark audiobooks! The cast was well done and each one fit the voice they were narrating and as always it was painful to say bye to this wonderful world Cora has created! Until next time!
