This book was so enjoyable to read and I feel like it was different from all the romance books that I've read before - when you read it you'll see why - I didn't get the vibe of the miscommunication trope and I loved that so much!
The character growth and development was so amazing to see. I didn't only fall in love with Nikki and Bruce but also with Ki and Gram.
This book made me laugh out loud and it also made me cry and it was so so good to feel so connected with the characters.
This is a close door book - which I loved!
I loved to see how Nikki and Ki connected and how they grew closer based on their passed life experience.
Would I recommend you this book?
Absolutely!

The vibes:
- dual pov
- Army veteran
- Hes in book club
- Instalove
My thoughts.
DNF at 21%.
What I read was a cute read but the way the characters connected and spilled their entire traumas to eachother so quickly just felt a bit forced for me. It was insta attraction which I don’t mind, but it was also instalove which I really struggle with. I think if you enjoy that trope- you might like this.
I also had a hard time with the FMC and relating to or understanding her. In her POV, there was a lot of math talk and wording. She processed the world in numbers and equations. I wasn’t quite sure if this was just her being quirky or if she had a mental process that this was nodding to- but without an explanation, it left me confused.
This story follows Nikki who arrives to a small town and a hot man named Bruce lives right next door. I really enjoyed this book and was deep into Cain’s writing. I really enjoyed the story and how positive it was. It made me feel like I should live in a small town because of how nice everyone was. As much as the storyline was great, there weren’t many conflicts in this book. This is great if you are looking for a calm read but not much if you aren’t. The pacing was fast which was great and of course the setting.
This book is told from both Nikki and Bruce’s pov. I really enjoyed Nikki’s character and learning so much about her. I loved her relationship with Rosie and how she found herself in the town. Bruce was also wonderful but also a cinnamon roll. I totally want this man in my life. There are many side characters in this book but Rosie was the spotlight compared to the rest. She was always hyped up and was so caring of others. The romance was cute in this book and there was a lot of chemistry built up. It has slow-burn friends to lovers with closed-door romance.
The ending was great and I really liked the epilogue. I really enjoyed the math part as it was clever of the author to incorporate that into the book. I’m excited to see how the next book comes into play because I know the new MCs will also be great. I recommend checking this book out because it’s a great small town romance.

Loved this book!! I loved that they communicated very well all throughout the book. Even while being a closed door romance you still felt the tension and the sexual tension too. I was really happy with the suspense that appeared in the book as well as how I related to both main characters with the issues they faced.

This is a lovely story about two individuals with broken pasts finding love with each other. The story and romance build steadily throughout and I enjoyed the love they built with each other as well as the love and commitment they had to their family members (her great-aunt, and his younger sister). There was a little meddling and matchmaking, but not much was necessary since Bruce and Nikki liked each other pretty quickly. It just took some time for them to move past their respective hang-ups. Their relationship and its gradual progression was lovely and sweet. Some really good romantic tension. There were also plenty of great interactions with secondary characters and how could a reader not love both Gram and Kiley. There was also an engaging subplot with Kiley’s difficult father. I was very invested in all the issues Bruce and Nikki had from their difficult pasts and how those thing’s affected their choices. I loved Gram’s saying, “‘Just stick.’” One of my other favourite thoughts was, “Why wouldn’t it be just as heroic to to recognize one’s own independence and ability to survive and wholeness, but then to chose to need someone?” This is a really lovely story. I enjoyed it very much. There are some fun little math tie-ins and the ending is very sweet and cute. (Not to mention the additional epilogue available from the author is wonderful. It left me so happy.) The teaser at the end for the next book got me excited for it. This is the first book in a new series, but the setting is familiar from a couple of the author’s other series. There are plenty of carryover characters and cameos too, however it is not at all necessary to have read any of the other books to enjoy this one. This is a fade-to-black story (so there is intimacy but it’s off the page) with some milder innuendo and a very small amount of mild harsh language.

My Opinion:
This is my first military/veteran romance and combined with a small town it made for a beautiful book. I really liked the narrative and the plot, very interesting and different from what I've read before. The characters have big issues to work on (which I like) and I like that they resolve it in a mature way. There are a lot secondary characters, but I will get to know them better with the series. The chemistry and attraction are through the roof (and knowing that Bruce was inspired by Henry Cavill just made it easier to imagine hehe) and even though it was hot, it was really cute how they became soulmates. Looking to read more from the author.
*Close Door – When is implied that they had intimacy without any details on page.
