Whew y’all. This was an emotional read and I admit, I got teary eyed a time or two! Worth it.
While this doesn’t fit my definition of dark, this is for sure an angsty story with very traumatized MCs. Scrap spent ten years in prison avenging Crista after a brutal attack at 16 left her physically and emotionally scarred.
This is no easy resolution, magic penis, love saves the day story. It’s truly heartbreaking to read Crista’s pain, insecurity, regrets, and doubts. The whole club expects her to jump into Scrap’s arms, but she’s struggling with PTSD and that’s not in the cards no matter how much time he spent in prison for her.
This really is angsty in a way that hurts your heart, but Scrap is such a stone fortress. He’s willing to take things at Crista’s pace because that’s his girl and he doesn’t care that she needs time. It’s the kind of dedication you don’t expect from an outlaw biker, but Scrap is dreamy x10. Poor Crista has to claw her way to happiness and it’s even more rewarding to see their HEA because of it.
Also: Crista punches Harper. FINALLY. I have no idea if Harper is meant to be endearing or not. I’m just glad someone finally rocked her sh*t. Thank you, CCW.

ebook
4/5
Summary: Scrap has recently been released from prison and finds that all is not well with Crista, the attack on whom was the event leading to his imprisonment.
Stats: M/F, CR/MC, Open door.
Notes: This was a reread to write a TW outline. I actually liked it a lot more this time - I loved the way Crista's family and friends try to help her, but often fail/are misguided. I loved the way Scrap interacts with Crista, and the way her frustration with 'plateau-ing' in her trauma recovery is handled.
OTT and Spoilery Content Warnings (CW) and Trigger Warnings (TW):

This story packs so much punch into such a tiny novella. My only complaint is that I wanted more!
