I'm kinda baffled, but I really did like it. Might have to read the other ones now.

the girls are NOT DOING MIDDLE GRADE ADVENTURE LIKE RICK RIORDAN THEY ARE SIMPLY NOT! this book holds up so beautifully in its adventure filled whimsy and its ability to pull you in and hold you there. the characters are full and fun and kids and nuanced. the stakes are high but not scary high. the death isn't permanent (at least in this one). AND THEYRE ALL NEURODIVERGENT? well yes!!! i think especially in this read as an adult seeing the kids' neurodiversity as a large part of their superpower was everything. like it was such a gift to see the way in which they were celebrated in and of themselves and successful because of it. its truly just such. a good book. I'm so excited to tap into the sequels which I never really finished fully as a kid. 5 stars ate down left no crumbs!

I'm not an expert on contemporary children's fantasy. I haven't read Fablehaven or more than the first volume of Harry Potter. My son wanted to read The Lightning Thief and I had heard good things from other moms that I trust so I ordered the set from the book orders.

My son was loving it and he was begging me to read it too so while he was away for a night at camp, I decided to read it. And I really enjoyed it.

Other than the fact that the Greek gods were and apparently continue to be very immoral, thus producing the demigods that make up the story, the book is good and fun. Struggling with dyslexia and ADHD, Percy Jackson finds that these are actually attributes and strengths for heroes. Perhaps this will inspire real children to realize they have amazing potential to do great things inspite of their struggles with learning disabilities.

My son and I have enjoyed learning more about Greek mythology and we're both glad that I also purchased a guide to help us. I seriously need to brush up on it.

Cute little book, very fun scenarios, I just wish they lasted for longer and we had some more time while the characters were traveling!

I listened to the Dutch audiobook for this one and I liked it! The Dutch translation works well and as usual, when I got used to the narrator, I thought he did great!

I wish I had read this sooner, ideally when it came out or when my need for a hyperfixation was at a high, because I think I would have ate this up as a kid. I never had a Greek Mythology phase, but this would have kickstarted it for sure. The story is fast paced, the dynamics are simple, there is a ton of action, it is funny and a lot of background info to set your teeth into after reading. Sounds perfect for past-me.

As an adult, I had a fun time! But it didn’t engage me as much, the suspense wasn’t killing me. I had my suspicions of how the plot would unfold and I was right. And it was nice to notice how much I already knew of Greek Mythology, as I have never been able to list all of the gods from the top of my head. I am also glad I am getting more of the references in fandom spaces now though and I think I am going to continue to listen to the audiobooks!
