Overall thoughts:

I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about this one but I did end up enjoying this book. I feel like the best way to enjoy these books is to read them without a modern point of view. This has been the one I did end up enjoying the most so far. I didn’t dislike it as a lot of other people did. I’m usually not a fan of love at first sight but this book did it in a way that I ended up enjoying and it fell through well. I adored Sophie.

I thought that she was amazing in this book and I loved her as our main love interest. I feel like Sophie was such a complex character but so loving and truthful. I loved how she didn’t leave her values even after she fell in love with Benedict. She was a strong female character and I really admired her for that. Benedict was an interesting character. He is very different from his tv show version but i did like certain aspects that they touched on his characters.

I liked how he realises when his actions are wrong which is something I was surprised by. I adored Violet in this book. She was in it a lot more this time and every scene that she was in was just amazing. She was another favourite character for me in this book. I loved how much she cared for her son’s happiness rather than what other people would think about.

The plot in this book was fun. I enjoyed how different it was to the first two. I liked the change of pace. The romance was cute in this book. I wasn't obsessed with it but I still enjoyed the relationship.I also thought seeing the other Bridgerton sisters was fun as we didn’t get to see them a lot in the other books.

Plot:
We follow Sophie who is a bastard daughter. Once her father remarries her stepmother has made it her choice to make her life horrible especially after her father dies. She is forced to be a maid. The other maids want the best for Sophie so one night they help Sophie escape to the ball where she is known as “The lady in silver”. She meets Benedict there and both of them fall in love right right.

Sophie escapes at midnight and Benedict searches for her. Sophie's stepmother finds out that she went to the ball and kicks her out. Three years have passed and Sophie is working somewhere else. Benedict ends up saving her from these men and they both go to Benedict cottage. Benedict does not realise that Sophie is the lady in silver. Benedict then begins to fall for Sophie and things get interesting from there. The plot was solid, it was a fine Cinderella plot and it had its twists that kept it interesting and fun.

Characters:
I did enjoy the characters in this book. I thought Sophie was amazing. I loved her so much. She was such an interesting character. My favourite part of her was the fact that she never gave up her values or what she believed in. She still kept a smile even though she had been through so much. I loved her wit and everything about her. I can’t wait to see her in live action.

I thought she was just the best. Benedict I liked him but he also annoyed me a lot. I did like that he realised his mistakes by the end and did say sorry to Sophie. I also adored the side characters a lot. I felt like the characters in this book were fun and interesting.

Romance:
The romance in this book was cute. I wasn’t super obsessed with the relationship in this book. I wasn’t a fan of how Benedict kept on asking Sophie to be his mistress even after she said no. I did like that he said sorry. That definitely was my favourite part which did make me like them more. I really liked how much they respected each other especially after they got over all of their miscommunication. I do hope we see more of them as parents in the next book.

Ending thoughts:
I really enjoy this book. I thought it was fun and cute. It was a fast read. I adored Sophie and I can't wait to see her in live action. I think she’s amazing.

Very easy read if you’re into the series, either the books or the show. My wife and I watched seasons 1-3 of the show and had never heard of the books, so I read this one, which is book 3 and might be part of season 4, although they haven’t announced it yet.
It’s only flaws are that it’s semi-predictable and there’s not a lot of different plot lines going on; just the standard “will they or won’t they?”
If this becomes season 4 of the show, they might combine it with another book in the series to flush it out.

This is my favorite bridgeton book so far. Started off very Cinderella which felt unoriginal but quickly took on a story of it's own that gripped me and felt very real and rooted

is benedict the perfect person? no absolutely not. he is possessive and dumb and goes about things all wrong. but who’s to say that romance and relationships are meant to be these perfect things that slot together like puzzle pieces.

if you want a dramatic, chaotic, sappy love story that doesn’t take itself too seriously then this is the one for you
