I enjoyed the style of writing and it was an easy read. Sanjay explains things in a very simple way and is easily comprehended. The 12 week program is very approachable and friendly to everyone regardless of where they are in life. I would recommend this as a good knowledge/learning book.

Outstanding. After a certain age (which no doubt varies), we all become a little preoccupied with maintaining cognitive competence in later life. This book is both enlightening and encouraging. It's best to start taking steps as early as possible, but no matter your age, there are things you can do now to maximize your chances of successful aging. This book is science-based, but requires no special knowledge or expertise. Sanjay Gupta is one of my heroes.

I listened to the audiobook and liked it so much, I bought the Kindle so as to have all the references.

I found this book to be thoughtful, relevant and informative. The author’s tone throughout was appropriately upbeat but realistic. Gupta managed to convey what I found to be important scientific information without over-burdening me with indecipherable medical terminology. I’m glad I read this one and will probably buy. Oh, and I think I’ll also try and get more sleep!

Very informative with scientifically based recommendations and insights.

Very informative!

A mix of fascinating and droning. Sobering, scary, optimistic, hopeful. I bought this book as soon as it came out in 2021 but got sidetracked. Finally returned to it but as an audiobook as I enjoy the author’s voice. Lots of information and meat with ideas to implement in your life. It’s all about environment and lifestyle. Genetics is not a prison.

Good information.

Insightful book into several aspects of Alzheimers. Gives insight into the disease and the current state of research, how it is to get diagnosed with the disease and what to expect as well as what we can do to prevent it. Overall good read but the style is at points not my favorite.

Well written and researched.  Very interesting book with practical advice

Although the title and cover don’t make this completely clear, this book is mainly about Dementia, and how to prevent this disease.

My key takeaways:
- the most impactful thing you can do to help prevent getting dementia is physical exercise- ideally at least an hour a day. Much of this exercise can be moderate, such as walking.
-diet is also important. Dr. Gupta recommends the Mediterranean diet.
-obesity and diabetes are strong risk factors for getting dementia
-it is also important to have an active social life and to keep learning new, challenging things
-start these habits now because dementia begins year's before symptoms develop

I learned a lot from this self-help/ science non-fiction, and I am implementing some changes into my life because of what I read. However, I didn't get a lot from the last several chapters about receiving a diagnosis, as this doesn't apply to me at this time.
