I really wasn’t enjoying all of the human testing and how some people were bred to be less than others. I understand it was a commentary piece on the threat of a totalitarian and unchecked technology and power but it just wasn’t enjoyable for me.

Incredible book. It immerses you in a socially-engineered society of the future that is very fleshed-out in its design and in how it’s been imagined and represented. And after that, through its storytelling, it even actually makes you question whether it’s utopian or dystopian, making you engage with the story in a way that I have not experienced in other dystopian literature. I fully recommend this book. It was unique.
Huxley's dissection of the "purpose" of society and how it will evolve is fascinating, as well as the issues he describes as causes of unhappiness, family, stable relationships, individuality and choice. However, his sanitised new world isn't devoid of sexism and casual racism which noticeably ages the story.

La verdad, es que un libro que cada dos por dos por tres tienes que parar, y pensar en que lo acabas de leer (en un libro de 1934) se asemeja a lo que se está viviendo. Los placeres inmediatos que se mencionan en la obra, como el mensaje es enviar una gran cantidad de estímulos a las personas (en nuestros casos las redes sociales), el condicionamiento en base a la repetición (también, en nuestros días, a traves de la redes sociales), como lo importante es ser superficial, como lo progreso al hecho de que los ancianos tengan trabajar, y así no tienen tiempo para pensar, como lo más importante es que la gente produzca y produzca y no se vea nada como una cosa que produce.
Cabe mencionar en el libro no se menciona que sea a traves de redes sociales, pero así es como se traduce a nuestra coyuntura.
Para mí, es una lectura obligatoria, te hace (querer) despertar del letargo en que la sociedad de productividad nos tiene atrapados.
