On the same night as the tragic death of a once very close friend Claudia Emerson encounters another world, called Crossroads through her dreams. Whilst in Crossroads she learns about a mix breed of angels and humans called the Alkin. Claudia learns of the supernatural powers that the Alkin possess. Among the Alkin lies evil known as the "fallen" . The Alkin that choose not to follow the Divine Rules. It is certain that because of her ability to go to Crossroads that the fallen will be after her/ So she is assigned a guardian angel named Michael. The leader of the fallen is called Aden, he is convinced that Claudia somehow holds the key to help him destroy Crossroads. Her dream, at times becomes a nightmare, as more secrets are revealed. Who she really is, and the true identities of the people she loves the most.

What a beautifully written book!, It has great descriptions of the things, and places Claudia sees. The battle scenes are so well described you feel like you are part of them too. I love the humorous parts where the Alkin Angels are trying to blend in with the humans. This book has a touch of everything, there's, action, humour, mystery, and of course a little romance thrown in too. Hmmm for a favourite character who would I choose? Well of course there's Claudia, but then there's Michael and don't forget Davin, Caleb and Vivian. Even though he is a fallen Aden is also a great character you learn lots about the characters. I really could go on and on but I don't want to slip and put spoilers in my review! A definite must, must read!

WOW!! Seriously just WOW! Crossroads is one of those stories that you can just lose yourself in. With a gripping storyline and adorable main characters its everything that is wonderful about Young Adult Literature.

Crossroads is about 16 year old Claudia who while sleeping enters into a world called the Crossroads. There she meets Michael who has fallen in love with her before she even knew him. However, Claudia shouldn't be able to get into the Crossroads and soon everything she thought was true in life is turned upset down and she is being hunted by fallen angels.

The characters in this book are all so likeable. Claudia is really down to earth and even when faced with terrible situations she is still strong. When she meets Michael she is completely smitten. It's really easy to understand why. Even though at first Michael is rude to her. It's only because he confused about why he is feeling human emotional. You see Michael is an Alkin, half angel and half human. It's not long though until they are both madly in love and seriously the thing Michael say's to Claudia is so romantic it makes me jealous. My favourite character is another angel, Davin. He is just so funny and cute. There is just something that make you connect with him. He is just an all round nice person who is loyal to his friends.

Now the story at first was a little slow for the first couple of chapters. However, after I got into it I was completely hooked! The storyline is simply fantastic!! It's about angel but Mary has created a story that is completely different to more angel stories. She has put alot of Mythology behind her angels and it just makes the readers understand and connect easier with the characters.

Crossroads is a beautifully written debut novel that has everything you need for a outstanding read. Forbidden love, danger, angels and demons what not to love?

I'm honestly like 90% sure I read this book a while ago but just obviously never changed the status to read.... or maybe I just dreamed I read this ;) No but seriously, I feel like I remember things that happened in this story but maybe I'll have to give it a re-read just to be sure or at least skim through it! Either way I do remember flying through this story and it being an easy, fast paced one sitting read that I really enjoyed, whether that happened in real life and I have actually read this (Which for intents and purposes lets say I have cause like I feel like I have haha) or I'm making this up and didn't actually read this and have just read the synopsis so many times that it feels like I have, I still enjoyed it and had fun with it because I did read it okay!!!!!. For now I'll give it a 3.5 stars cause ya know, I might be going crazy.

This book was just...poor. I am not one who usually abandons books...typically I struggle through to the end, but I couldn't do that with this book. It was just so poorly written and developed. The prologue was the best part. I couldn't stand Claudia's voice and the author's first person attempts. The whole thing just felt like it was written by a child. Wordy and overly/redundantly/sloppily descriptive. I just couldn't do it. It seems to me that anyone giving this book five stars has not read any of the the other YA paranormal fiction available.

This book was absolutely amazing. I read it in half a day, it was just impossible to put down. All through-out the book, I felt like I was right there experiencing everything with Claudia. From her sadness over her friends death to the adrenaline rushes that came with the fights with the fallen angels to her falling in love. It felt so real. I honestly cried at the second funeral (trying not to spoil anything for those who haven't read it yet.) I cannot wait for the next book. This book is defiantly one I will be recommending to all my friends. If you are thinking about reading it the you should, it is well worth the time.

Received a copy for honest review.
I’m not even really sure what to say about this book. I love YA books and I loved the blurb for this book.
But it kind of fell flat, now I’m not saying I didn’t like the book at all because I did. There was something about the story and the characters that made me keep reading.
I loved the storyline and while it was boring and repetitive at times, I kept reading to see what was going to happen. I liked the fact this book was about Angels and half-human, half-Angels. It was something different to normal paranormal/fantasy YA books.
The story started very slow and there wasn’t a lot happening at the beginning. The storyline did become predictable as I was reading through. I would have loved something where I just couldn’t predict what would have happened next.
I had a lot of confusion reading for a few different reasons: from the prologue to chapter 1 we get 2 different characters POV’s and while I don’t hate having different characters POV’s this got confusing because it wasn’t pointed out. In some chapters, there wasn’t a lot of description of what was happening, what the characters were doing. I had to re-read at times to make sure I had read it correctly.
While I did like Claudia, she was kind of childish sometimes, with her actions. She met Michael and then all of sudden she was in love with him. It was what you would expect from a 12 year old not a 18 years old. Also some of the language the teenagers were using was stupid. It just wasn’t something a teenager would say.
I am left with a lot of unanswered questions with the story and the characters fate. I’m not sure if I will continue with the series.
But I did really enjoy the Angel side of the story, about Crossroads, Halo City, Fallen Angels and Demons etc I loved the detail that went into talking to Claudia about the history of the Angels, and the half breeds.
Also the fighting scenes were quite good, I loved the excitement of them and how they were detailed.
3 out of 5 stars

Crossroads, the world between life and death, is a place no human has ever entered. That is, until Claudia. Now that Claudia has been to Crossroads through her dreams and learned the secret of the half-human, half-angels called alkins that reside there, she has to be protected. The fallen will be after her, certain she has the secret to destroying Crossroads. Claudia is assigned a guardian angel, Michael, to keep her safe from the fallen. But things between Claudia and Michael are not what they seem. In fact, nothing in Claudia’s life is what it seems.

Crossroads is a young adult paranormal romance, focusing on angels, demons and a group called the fallen. It definitely has an intriguing and original plot, especially in a genre ripe with fallen angels, vampires and werewolves (all of which I love, by the way). Unfortunately, I found it to be very formulaic. It reminded me too much of the Twilight series. There was a forbidden love, hot, burning passion, sexual tension and a friend that could potentially be a love interest—there was even a variation of the infamous leg hitch scene. There were many interesting aspects to the story: the alkins lives and why they are forced to live the way they do, Crossroads, Halo City and the Divine Ten Commandments. I really wanted to learn more about these things. I also found the dialogue to be unrealistic; no teenager I know—and I know a lot—would talk the way the teenagers in this book talk. Also, Claudia’s constant internal dialogue became rather monotonous as the book progressed. I really wanted Ting to build the characters as she built the story. Both Claudia and Michael had tremendous potential, but they fell a bit flat. Some back story regarding the various characters in the story would have really helped the plot. Ting is extremely adept at building tension in her stories; the various fight scenes were well-written and exciting. During one scene in particular, in the retail store where Claudia works, I got goose bumps from the descriptions. I wanted the whole book to read like this scene. I fully expect Ting’s writing to take on even greater dimension as she progresses through Claudia’s story.

The story idea was great but the writing was often unimaginative and lame like the dialogue in children's cartoons. The supernatural world is not well blended; its too forced. Conflicts are resolved too easily. Demons get killed too quickly. You grow to love the characters and the love story is very romantic although unbelievable (no guy, alkin or not, is that mushy!) Some of the angelic information may have been researched but in the end, this is a fluffy forbidden love story. I enjoyed it but don't expect too much.

First of all, I'd like to say that I'd never heard of this book before getting a recommendation from a friend. I searched it on Amazon and, amazingly, it was free. Being the free book lover that I am, I bought it. I am SO GLAD that I did.

Second of all, I'm very very glad that I took my friend's recommendation (I am a stubborn girl and tend to not listen people and do what I want but I am getting better :D). This book was truly incredible from page 1.

Third of all, OH MY GOSH YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK OR YOUR LIFE IS NOT COMPETE!

Now that I'm done with all of my numbers, stop reading this review and READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!
