I loved this book, the only reason it’s not 5…Wayne may not make a comeback after this book, which makes me kinda sad. However, looking forward to see if Sanderson will write another Waxillian book!!

*4.5 stars
Overall, I loved it. Brandon knows how to write an ending! Its fast pace and short chapters made it hard to put down. The action scenes were so well written, easy to follow, each offering something a little unique, and all the main characters got their awesome moments in that respect. I enjoyed the continued development/investigation of the magic system(s) too (though I still maintain Mistborn isn't my favourite magic system, clever, intricate and interesting though it is). The ending had an emotional impact on me that I wouldn't have expected, given that up to Bands of Mourning I hadn't connected very well with the characters. Steris, however, is probably my favourite female character that Sanderson has written.
I've read some reviews here of various ratings, and it's interesting how different people feel about the same characters or aspects of this series/book. I thought I'd comment on the aspects that seem to be the most divisive so as to convey where I stand.
Wayne
Cosmere stuff

Wayne
Spoiler
I loved him when I first read the first three books and found him hilarious, but on reread he irritated me more, especially his sex-related jokes; I understand why some find him juvenile. But I view that aspect of him as being surface level, as partially a defence against his own pain, and partially (so he thinks) to cheer those around him. And so I love him as a character for who he actually is, and I did shed a few tears for him at the end (though I shed more when Steris received her letter from the Governor for some reason haha, that got me). Initially I was sad and wished he could've lived, but realised quickly that it was the perfect way for him to go, to finally be able to forgive himself and to prove himself. I also thought that the authorial voice in Wayne's POV chapters was written well, it made them stand out from other chapters and for me at least, was fun to read. Love his different 'hats' and how he could step so well into other characters' shoes (fictional or otherwise). So overall I did enjoy Wayne, and his relationships with the others.Cosmere stuff
